TEDDY BEAR PICNIC hosted by Piltown Foróige Youth Club on Sunday, 11 June there will be a community picnic for the village. As it is a Teddy Bear Picnic you are all invited to bring your special teddy and a picnic to share with family and friends. This is a National Day of community lunches promoted by www.streetfeast.ie and is being facilitated by Piltown Foróige Youth Club.
This great idea is that communities get together for a few hours to enjoy the company of their neighbours and friends.
So please come along to the site of the old Bottle Bank (opposite Foyle's Garage from 2 - 5 pm).
There will be stories, games and face painting for children.
We will have music and a Barbeque. All you need is your own picnic, something to sit on and we can all help make this a happy event for everyone.
In the event of bad weather this event will take place in the Community Centre (please note that this is NOT a fundraising event). If you have questions or want to help please contact Mairéad on 087 1441273.
Feile na nGael 2017
On Friday, 16th June, Piltown welcomes Scariff Ogonolloe Camogie Club from Clare and Na Piarsaigh Hurling Club from Cork for the Feile na nGael Competition. For anyone not familiar with this, it is a huge celebration of u14 Camogie and Hurling. The last time it was held in Kilkenny was 2007. This year, it takes place throughout Kilkenny, Wexford and Carlow with almost 7000 young players from all over the country taking part. The matches begin on Friday evening with the Piltown hurlers travelling to Danesfort to play their opening games against Danesfort and Westport of Mayo, while the Camogie team remains at home to play Knockavilla of Tipperary and Thomastown. These games begin at 5pm. On Saturday, both teams have home games against their visitors, beginning at 10.30 with Camogie and the hurling at 11.15. Please come along and support your local teams.
Following these matches, all teams will head for Wexford where the knock-out stages of the competition will take place. Both the Juvenile Hurling Club and the Camogie Club are very grateful to all who have provided help or sponsorship towards this massive event and a full list will be published after the weekend.
