Cardinal Newman’s Reflection after Communion
Lord Jesus, teach me to watch and wait for you.
Make me tender and sensitive in my devotion to you.
Let me feed on the thought of you,
hang on to your words and live in your smile.
Make me thrive and grow under your hand.
Make me quick in catching your meaning, jealous of your honour,
And may I feel an awful joy, not a disappointment,
if you were on the point of coming.
