Owning House Retirement Village

Owning House provides secure , sheltered housing on the grounds of the former St. John of God Convent. It is operated by a voluntary Committee with Rregistered Charity status.


Aim of the Organisation:

Owning House Retirement Village aims to provide the resident with a house which will become their home , where they can live stress free and independently in a secure environmet with a good dinner provided each day, a warm house and support available at all times.


The houses in the village setting are semi-detached. Each home has a kitchen / Living room with fireplace and back boiler, one or two bedrooms, a bathroom and a sun porch.


Owning House Retirement Village has a friendly, dedicated core staff for the administration,
cooking and maintenance and is augmented by the Community Employment Scheme and helpful Volunteers.


The complex is patrolled at night and at weekends by a local Security Company who are contactable by the touch of a button via the "Emergncy Response System"


Assistance is given where needed with cleaning and vacuuming. House and ground maintenance is undertaken by the Committee.


Laundry Service is provided and is free of charge.

A freshly cooked nutritious four-course meal is served daily in the dining-roopm of the main house.


The Ring-a-Link rural bus and local taxis provide transport to near-by towns such as Carrick-on-Suir from the complex grounds.


Religious Services:

Owning Chapel where Religious services are held weekly

Prayer /Services are offered in the house chapel daily. Mass can be received via radio link in each home and available to those who have broadband services from the Parish Church. Local Clergy visit the complex regularly.

Social Activities:

Sitting Room for social occassions

Social evenings, Summer and Christmas outings are organised by the Social Committee.


Admission can be made on the official application form available from the office. Each application is considered by the Admissions Board. ents are set according to income.
